Xochi Hughes Madera was born in San Francisco to two artistic architects in the late 50's. She showed promising talent as a child and at the age of 6 received a Junior Art Championship Award from the San Francisco Chronicle. From childhood through her early 20's, Xochi excelled in a variety of media: Oils, pencil, pen & ink, beading and bead loom. Her creativity turned to entrepreneurship when she created a number of successful companies. There would be many years with only glimpses of creating art in her life. Her passion for creating art called her back and now she has a body of work of over 60 fine works of art. Xochi uses kitchen cabinet doors as her canvas in some of her paintings as well as a wide variety of sized canvases. In 2009, 10, 11 & 12 her artwork was accepted into the Peninsula Art League's, Open Annual Juried Art Show, in Gig Harbor WA and in the 2011 Show, Xochi took home the “Peoples Choice Award” for her piece “Hidden Treasures” ~ Oil on Cabinet Door.
