My artistic roots go back to my childhood. My Father was a 'commercial artist '(as they were called back in the '50's). He was the 'resident artist' in Yankton, South Dakota, the town I grew up in and still call home. I spent hours in his studio watching him create. Whether it was as an architect for someone's home or designing a logo for a business, it all went under the heading of 'artist' and I thought he was fantastic. My Mother designed flowers in her 'Flower shop' for over 40 years. It was there that I was trained and worked and later made a living as a Floral Designer myself. But it was my Father that I wanted to aspire to and after my 4 children were grown, I entered college to study art. Four years later I graduated and became an Art teacher in Clear Lake, Iowa. I taught art to high school students for 14 years, retiring in 2008. In July, 2009. I moved to Brooklyn to lend a helping hand to my Son's young family. I saw it as a perfect opportunity to live in this great city and be close to family at the same time. My other three children and their families live in Minneapolis.
