BIOGRAPHY

Hello. My name is Doug Ashby. I am a pen and ink illustrator/artist. My technique is stippling which is similar to pointillism where by I use dots to create areas of shade and tone. I came to this process out of my love for drawing. I find drawing to be the root of what I do as a visual artist. Some have said that my work is a little all over the place. I disagree. While my subject matter may vary, my commitment to drawing and pen & ink is firm. I have many influences, to many to go on about. They range from Goya, Mapplethorpe, Gauguin to Basquiat. At times I like to endeavor into imagery that is thought provoking and evocative. Sometimes I like to just capture, simply, the beauty of the world as I see it. I hope you enjoy! Doug.
